Prepping Now, Not later

Prepping is a hot topic these days. With the new TV show on National Geographic DoomsDay Preppers and all the fears abound about the economy, terrorism, etc prepping is what it is all about. Prepping is about self-sufficiency, today, not tomorrow. Everyone plans and prepares for what happens in the future, but what you need to be doing is becoming self-sufficient now. The world may never end (I truly hope not) but bad things do and can happen. Take some initiative now, learn to be a hunter-gather, go fishing and clean and eat the fish for dinner. Grow some vegetables in the back yard, use containers so you can take them with you if you move. Go shooting, go camping. Take up a self-defense course, not a sport mind you, a course that teaches you to defend yourself not fighting in a tournament. Practice the skills now so that one day when you need them you are an old hand and knowledgeable.

One day, when you need them, you will have them and they will save you or your family. When your car goes off the road and you get stuck in a snow storm you will know how to make a fire and get through the night. The next time a hurricane comes through and you have to go with no power for a week you will be ready and able to feed the family. Prepping is not about surviving doomsday as so many people think. It is about surviving today and tomorrow no matter what comes your way. It isn't about being and living a paranoid existence either. We still live in a modern world with modern conveniences. Go travelling, go on vacation. Please don't block out the rest of the world turning your family into hermits. You can live and enjoy life to its utmost and always be prepared for the worse. Why? Because it is common sense. Don't be left holding the bag like so many people did after the 2000 computer bug everyone was so worried about. They discovered that life went on and the gave up so much of their lives. On the flip side though...be prepared so what happened to those in Hurricane Katrina or the Tsunami's in Indonesia and Japan does not happen to you.

Stay smart, stay prepared and live life to its fullest!
